How to buy Carpet
 |
When planning to buy new carpet, you
should ask yourself some preliminary questions: What kind of
traffic will the room experience? Are there pets? Is there
traffic from an outside entrance? What is the frequency of
traffic? Answers to questions like these determine the type
of carpet you should buy.

Ask yourself how long you expect to keep
your carpet before replacing it. A better grade of carpet
will give you a greater length of service than one of lesser
quality. Buy the best carpet you can afford for the heavy
traffic areas and a good medium grade for the rooms with
less traffic. Please consider that your total carpet price
should include: carpet, pad, installation and the cost of
regular maintenance.

To determine the quantity of carpet you
need, multiply the length by the width of the room in feet
and divide by 9 to obtain the square yardage needed. Add 10
percent for irregularities in room size. If you like,
Fashion Floors personnel will come to your home and measure
for you, taking into account closets, hallways and rooms
wider than 12 feet (most carpet comes in 12 feet wide
rolls). |
